Between the Sticks has a very close relationship with Dorset FA in the development of goalkeepers & goalkeeping coaches. Robbie delivers all the FA GK courses for Dorset County Football Association. The dates for the following courses are

GK level 1 - 3rd, 4th & 10th March
GK Level 2 - 6th, 7th & 8th April
GK Level 1 - 7th, 8th & 14th July

!! Weather not good at present !!

Hi Everyone

We are very sorry that recently we have had to cancel some training nights due to the weather. We have had persistent rain before Christmas & the pitches have not recovered fully, so only Just managing to get a few sessions delivered.

The weather forecast is not good in the next few weeks with snow & freezing
Temperatures coming our way. Please keep an eye on the web sites notice board as this is the first place we put any cancellation.

If your not sure if training is on at any time please contact Jenny, Mossy
or Robbie to confirm.

|| Dorset FA Goalkeeping Development night !!

Between the Sticks will be delivering goalkeeping coaching night for Dorset adult football League clubs in association with Dorset FA.
The sessions will be targeted towards adult goalkeepers in the Dorset Leagues.
We are very happy to help the development of coaches & goalkeepers in our adult county's football leagues.
The sessions will be delivered at the Redlands Sports Centre in Weymouth on Wednesday 22nd Febuary 7pm to 9pm

Any goalkeeper or goalkeeping coach that plays or works within the Dorset Adult Leauges that would like to attend please contact Andy Battison at the Dorset FA 01202 688279

Hi Everyone

Just wanted to thank everyone that sponsored me to grow my hair for the month of November.

As you can see from the photo it was very hard thing for me to do as "grass does not grow on a busy street"

Over the whole month between the group of work mates at Mercedes Benz of Poole we have raised around £1200 for the Huntingtons disease.

Hi Everyone

10 of my work colleagues & myself are growing moustaches to raise money & awareness for HUNTINGTON'S DISEASE.

A very close friend & work colleague I have worked with for 15 years, Phil Blackley, has the condition, so all my work mates have decided to grow moustaches in the month of November.

Someone came up to me at work & offered £35 for me to grow all my hair as they have never seen me with hair, so I thought "what the hell it's for a good cause"

We have decided to revert to our original times ON THURSDAYS ONLY from November 10th.
Under 12’s start time - 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm
Over 12’s start time - 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR THURSDAYS ONLY

MONDAYS WILL REMAIN AS NOW - that is 7 - 8 pm and 8 - 9 pm .

To all Keepers, Mums, Dads and Grandparents.

We are well into the new season now and up until this week the weather has been quite reasonable for us. We do apologise for the late cancellation on Monday evening but the rain came late but it was the wind which necessitated the cancellation. Safety has to be paramount.

We would like to remind you all, if it is possible for you to do so, to check our website before you leave for training if the weather is at all doubtful. We will continue to skype you all if there is a cancellation but information is put on the website first and it obviously takes some time to contact you all.

At last news of the new gloves - we are sorry for the delay but the manufacturers had a problem with the delivery of the latex so this was totally out of their, and our hands.
A number of the new gloves will be available on Thursday 27 October, with the final delivery available for sale during the following week. We have various styles in all sizes due in.

As you are all aware we altered the starting times of Between the Sticks at the beginning of the season. Although this has suited some of you giving you more time to get to us after work, it has caused a few problems for our younger keepers making it a rather late finishing time.
We have therefore decided to revert to our original times ON THURSDAYS ONLY from November 10th.
The Under 12’s will therefore be from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm and the Over 12’s from 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR THURSDAYS ONLY - MONDAYS WILL REMAIN AS NOW - that is 7 - 8 pm and 8 - 9 pm .

Once again can we remind you all please to make sure you keep us up to date on any address, telephone number or email address changes. This is so important to ensure that we can contact you if need be particularly in the case of possible cancellations.

I cannot believe we are talking about Christmas already but it is rapidly approaching.
We will be closing over the Christmas holidays, our last session will be Thursday 15 December and we will start again on Thursday January 5^th. I will resist the temptation to wish you all a Happy Christmas just yet !!!

One plea to all keepers - can you please make sure you take your water/drink bottles home with you after training. We always attempt to leave Canford Arena as clean and tidy as we can and we currently have to clear up numerous bottles after the sessions have finished.

Finally when keepers arrive for their particular session if they arrive early can they please use that time to warm up - form yourselves into small groups so that we do not have balls flying all over the place.
Also as soon as the coaches announce the end of the sessions, please put all the balls into the nets for us to collect up. We do not want to risk injury or damage to the equipment with loose balls being kicked around whilst keepers are not under the supervision of the coaches.

As in previous seasons we wish to thank all of our keepers for your support - we are getting tremendous feed-back about the development and improvements in our keepers games. Without all the hard work you put in, these improvements would not come about and would make our job much more difficult. It gives us coaches so much pleasure to be given this feed-back.

On a personal note I would like to thank Jackie Cheeseman for all her help while I have been unable to attend Between the Sticks recently. Her help has enabled the coaches to concentrate on their job without having to deal with the administrative side.

As always a big thank you to all the parents and grandparents who bring the keepers in all weathers to Between the Sticks.

Dorset Development Goalkeepers to be coached at BTS

We are pleased to announce Dorset Development goalkeepers will now be coached at BTS every 3rd week on Mondays, starting from 26th September 2011.Over the years I have worked with & along side Dorset Football Association in many roles as a coach, so this is why I am very happy to be able to work with the Dorset Development goalkeepers on behalf of Dorset Football Association.
I would like to thank Andy Battison (Dorset Football Association Senior Development Officer) for working in partnership with BTS in laying the foundations to develop goalkeepers in Dorset.

Timetable Change

As our older keepers already know, the AFC Bournemouth Centre of Excellence over 12 keepers have been coming to BTS for sometime.

I have recently had a meeting with the Head of AFC Bournemouth's Centre Shaun Brooks and we have agreed that it is best for all the AFCB keepers to now be trained at BTS on a Monday evening.

We are obviously very pleased to accommodate our local Professional club particularly as I coach the first team keepers at AFCB. This will give us a great opportunity to prepare very young keepers for the long and often hard career in professional football.

Our priority as always is to provide the best possible coaching environment for all goalkeepers that attend BTS, regardless of their current age and playing ability. We do this mainly by having smaller groups and good quality coaches that either Robbie or myself have worked with in the past.

In order to maintain the high standards that has brought us and many of our keepers success, we have decided to extend BTS coaching on a Monday to 3 hours. From Monday July 4th the times of training will be as follows:-

Mondays
AFCB Centre of Excellence Keepers 6-7pm
Between the Sticks under 12's 7-8pm
Between the Sticks over 12's 8-9pm

Thursdays
Between the Sticks under 12's 7-8pm
Between the Sticks over 12's 8-9pm

From Thursday November 10th new times :-
Under 12s - 6.30pm to 7.30pm
Over 12s - 7.30pm to 8.30pm

We hope that this small change will not inconvenience any of our customers.

I would like to finish by thanking all of the goalkeepers and long suffering parents and grandparents for their hard work and great attitude to our coaching. BTS now has a great reputation both locally and Nationally and this would not have been possible without you.

They will be valid for the purchase of kit and gloves or towards the cost of private one on one coaching sessions (bookable in advance). They will not be valid for evening coaching sessions.
